Windows Server 2022

What will Server 2022 give you?

Windows Server 2022 is Microsoft latest installment of Windows Server, it comes in three editions:

Datacenter - for highly virtualized data centers and cloud environments

Standard - for physical or minimally virtualized environments

Essentials - for Small businesses with up to 25 users and 50 devices

Both “Datacenter” and “Standard” editions require server CALs and are Core-based licenses.

What do you get with Windows Server 2022?

Secured-core Server

Apply advanced multi-layer protection against threats easily with a secured-core server. Following the Secured-core PC, Microsoft has introduced Secured-core Server which they say is built on three key pillars: simplified security, advanced protection, and preventative defense.

Greater Transport Security

The latest Windows Server allows for secure connectivity to business-critical assets. Thanks to TLS 1.3 encryption being enabled by default, Windows Server 2022 offers an additional layer of security during transport.

Azure Arc

Azure Arc grants users with a simpler, faster and more consistent way to manage data and develop apps. Thanks to Azure Arc you can easily organize, govern, and secure Windows, Linux, SQL Server, and Kubernetes clusters across data centers, the edge, and multi-cloud environments on-premises.

Windows Admin Center

By utilizing the latest version of Windows Admin Center, the locally deployed, browser-based app for managing Windows servers, clusters, and hyper-converged infrastructure, users acquire better virtual-machine management as well as the ability to update .NET applications with the new containerization tool.

Storage Migration Service

Storage Migration Service makes it easier to migrate the storage to Windows Server or to Azure. It provides a graphical tool for users to inventory data on Windows, Linux, and NetApp CIFS servers. It subsequently transfers the data to newer servers or to Azure virtual machines. Thanks to the new supported scenario in Windows Server 2022, users can migrate file servers from on-premises to Azure.
